JRCLS makes donation to the Franklin Pierce Law Center Civil Practice Clinic

Today JRCLS donated the funds raised through the X-box Halo 2 Tournament to Peter Wright, Professor and Director of Clinical Programs, Franklin Pierce Law Center. Thanks again to all those who supported this event.

Summing it up

Pierce made a great showing in the JRCLS’ 1st annual video game fundraiser event. First and foremost, we were able to raise a good chunk of change for the Franklin Pierce Law Center Civil Practice Clinic. Second, we were able to deduce who the masters of halo 2 are among the Pierce student body. A strong front of teenage attendees gave the Pierce crowd a run for their money and ultimately the end result was split. The top team in the competition was entirely comprised of Pierce folk, while the top player was a local. Please leave us comments on what we can improve on for next year. Competition Rules

NOTE: The only way to get into the individual competition is by playing in the team competition. If you don’t want to compete, there will be a few free play rooms, where you can go to learn or just have fun.

Team Competition: Up to four people per team. This means that you can be a one man team, but you pay the team price – $25. If you want to be on a team, but don’t know anyone else, we can try to help. Just let us know. Each game should have 4 teams and each team gets randomly put into one of the school rooms with a projector. The competition will start with a round robin arrangement – all teams will compete against all other teams at least once. Based on team stats, each team is then sorted into a bracket slot. The top two teams in each bracket move into a winners bracket and the bottom two teams move to a losers bracket. There is a double elimination for the teams. The top team of the last bracket (the top four teams) wins the Franklin Pierce Halo Champion T-shirts.

Individual competition: In order to play in the individual competition, you must compete on a team – whether or not you play by yourself on that team. The top 16 players with the best kill to death ratio per game from the team competition will be selected for the individual competition. The top16 then play several varied matches and the top player wins a copy of Halo 3. The maps and variations of game play have not yet been decided.

Faculty – Details for signing up your children

FACULTY MEMBERS:

– We are all very excited to have your children be allowed to participate in the fundraiser!

– As always, there are some limitations, of which you need to be aware. First of all, your child must be at least 14 years old* to participate.  As recently modified, your child may invite his or her friends (no more than three) to participate on a team with him or her.  Additionally, if the number of total participants becomes too large to accommodate, we reserve the right to terminate the sign-up process (so sign up early!)

– As you may be aware, there is a limit of four people per Xbox and although a one-man-team is allowed, if your child/children wants to play on a team, there are others who may not have formed a team yet, so we will do our best to put them on a  team if they have not brought teammates with them.  To this end, if your child/children are interested in playing, please encourage them to get on a team with other children ahead of time and they can share the cost of the team sign-up. Also, each room will be monitored by a member of our organization to handle any problems that may arise.

– In case your child/children want to know more about how the tournament will be run, we will have a link posted shortly with instructions about the gameplay. Briefly – there will be a team competition and an individual competition. In order to get a spot in the individual competition, the participant must compete in the team competition, (with or without team members). Click here for more details…

– Lastly, if your 14 and older children don’t want to compete, but do want to play, there will be some free-play rooms for them play in, the entrance fee is $7/person – be aware though that space in the free play rooms may be limited.

HALO Tournament Fundraiser – at FPLC

What: We will be playing Halo 2 and the tournament will have two parts: a team championship elimination round and an individual championship. (click here for details)

Top individual = a new copy of Halo 3

Date: Dec. 1, 2007 (AFTER the 1L’s have turned in their writing finals)

Time: 7:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.

Entrance Fee: $7/individual* (non-competing) or $25/team (Free if not playing)

Fundraiser: All proceeds will be donated to the clinic at the school to help the local community.** Donations are welcome.

 

*Space may be limited for free play, but be prepared to have fun anyway.

**Soda and water will be sold on site – proceeds go to the clinic
