Semi-annul JRCLS Breakfast of Bounty

Filed under: Past Events — jrcls @ 12:37 am

The J. Reuben Clark Law Society (JRCLS) together with the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) and Career Services gave a free breakfast to the student body. All meals were served with love. The following items were on the menu:

  • Piping Hot Buttermilk Pancakes
  • Sweet Vermont Maple Syrup
  • Crispy Yet Tender Bacon
  • Warm Sausage
  • Scrambled Eggs
  • Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice

Students were able to relax, if only momentarily, from the rigor of their academic pursuits and otherwise arduous workload to fill their bellies. They came
hungry and left happy!

Sandra Day Broadcast a hit!

Filed under: Past Events — Tags: — jrcls @ 1:06 pm

The night began when about 40 of us, comprised of both Pierce students and practicing attorneys from around New Hampshire, sat down and feasted on Chinese food provided by JRCLS and the SBA. This was a great opportunity for all in attendance to get to know one another and begin developing a good rapport between the students of pierce and the NH lawyering community.

After dinner, the JRCLS national broadcast was presented. It was a pleasure listening to the first woman Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. She was full of life and relayed a message often lost in today’s non-stop world. She advocated the idea that as lawyers, we should be ready to do the “difficult” thing and stand up for what is right, even in the face of immense opposition and adversity. She relayed a story about a lawyer, who, in the face of dis-debarment, held to his belief of wrongdoing by the prosecutor. For years, he advocated to the Bar that they take action to ultimately allow justice, even though the justice would seek out his former client and perhaps embarrass the prosecutor.

JRCLS would just like to thank the Pierce Student Bar Association (SBA) for co-sponsoring the event. Additionally, a big thanks to all those who attended and made this a memorable event.
